Allison Dalbeck has been a counselor with LCUSD since the 2004. Ms. Dalbeck began her counseling career at La Cañada Elementary and collaborated with the elementary counselors from Palm Crest and Paradise Canyon to create the foundation for the first elementary counseling program in the district.
When a position became available at 7/8, the site of her counseling internship, she jumped at the opportunity to work with the junior high students. It is said it takes a special person to work with junior high students, but Ms. Dalbeck and many of her colleagues frequently depict this age as “human beings under construction, please handle with care.” She has served as a 7/8 counselor since 2005.
Ms. Dalbeck was raised in La Cañada Flintridge and currently lives in Pasadena. She attended La Cañada schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade, graduating from LCHS in 1995. She enjoys working alongside former teachers and classmates, including fellow 7/8 counselor Mrs. Brascia, who make up the LCHS staff. She has received recognition for her counseling work through PTA, the Founder’s Day Outstanding Service Award and Continuing Service Award. She also has served on numerous leadership committees at both the site and district levels to help guide the vision of the district.
Ms. Dalbeck received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Post undergraduate, she worked as an entry‐level/college recruiter for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young LLC, and Northrop‐Grumman. It was through her work with undergraduate and graduate students in the corporate world that helped shape her passion of working with students.
After recognizing her passion, Ms. Dalbeck returned to the University of Southern California in 2002 to pursue a graduate degree in education. In 2004 she earned her Master of Science in Education (Counseling Psychology) and a Pupil Personnel Services credential, and shortly thereafter joined LCUSD.
On a personal note, Ms. Dalbeck relies on family and friends to help keep her grounded and provide balance in her life. She unwinds by catching up on entertainment news, spending time with family and friends, and volunteering for organizations that benefit children, such as Kidspace Children’s Museum and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. During the football season you will hear her cheering on the Trojans at the home games. She also loves to travel, everything from local weekend adventures to tropical excursions to Hawaii.
